From a Worrier to a Warrior
It is not often that I have to eat my own words. And this is not one of them! Ha ha
However, I must say that I have transformed from a Soca Worrier to a Soca Warrior.
My ultimate fear was that Trinidad and Tobago would embarass themselves in the World Cup and that english commentators would have a field day with us, which they kinda did anyway, but not in an offensive way, I think. Many disagree, they just don't understand the humour.
But!
T&T fought hard, made some plays, almost scored many times and made the world know who Trinidad and Tobago was from the first get go. We played a brand of football that was not the best by any standards, but it also was not the worst and we did not suffer the greatest cut arse in the World Cup Finals. We left that for that team that got 6-O from Argentina. Ha ha...ok, sorry, it's not funny. No, wait, it is...
To Stern John...boy you real purge! Having you and nothing on the team is the same thing, we should have played with 10 men in all the matches and left you out, that way no one could be upset about the purgity of your play. Yuh big loafer! Yuh make offside the norm instead of the exception.
Carlos Edwards...you are a star, thanks for keeping up the gleaming reputation of my family name! Thanks for showing us that someone on T&T could beats and make men say, "How he pass me fast, fast so? How he cross that ball from all over there so?"
Brent Sancho...good playing. Hard locks about the hair pulling incident. I always say that sometimes is good to be quiet. I think you should not have complained about having your hair pulled by Crouch, because look you gone and score ah own goal. Thus creating a nill, get a goal against us, gave a goal to them. Life is funny like that.
Shaka Hislop...big up to you man, you save more balls than having your prostate checked annually past the age of 40. You showed real class.
Kelvin Jack...you saved a lot of balls but I didn't have the faith in you like I did Shaka! Sorry, but big up to you anyway man, you get on bad in the final game. By the way, thanks for injuring yourself in that first game!
Dwight Yorke...big up to you, I think that you were a play maker and an inspiration and motivator to the guys on the field. However, I do wish that someone had hypnotized you into thinking that you were playin for Man U again so you could have scored goals like they had no tomorrow like you used to. But then you may have bought some German Castles and interferred with some German white girls, so...bad idea...
Russel Latapy...the little magician! Man, I'm glad that you came on for a short time, just short enough to show brilliance before you got bun from smoking dem 10 cigarrettes a day that you do! But man, you showed real class, had shots on goal, beats men and everything. The world will remember you by those last minutes that you played for T&T.
Birchall...man, I can't remember your first name but you played well also. Congrats! I saw you in the field there, calling for the ball, trying to make those plays.
To the rest of the boys, I am so proud of you all. You gave it your best, you gave it your all, but most of all you gave it your heart. And no one could have asked for more. And the real test of a warriorism is what comes from the heart. Hence the greatest warrior of all was called BraveHeart. Go Mel Gibson!
I am foroever a Soca Warrior! Go forth warriors to do greater and better things!
This WC has brought so much of entertainment and laughs for me, which I should have recorded and blogged but laziness got the better of me.
